Meet
Marilyn Cohen
I became a designer of jewelry after many
gratifying years in the helping professions as a teacher,
psychotherapist, family therapist and divorce mediator. During most of
those years I also looked for and collected antique traditional
textiles, mostly Asian and African.
As I searched for textiles, I also collected
jewelry, beads and artifacts everywhere I went, falling in love with
the many adornments worn by people of diverse cultures and customs.
Everything I saw went into a large ever-expanding "file drawer" in my
imagination. And, as it is said, "what goes in must come out."
What now "comes out" is a cornucopia, a profusion
of ideas for making adornments for my friends, their friends and new
friends. Most of these pieces are bead necklaces, each one unique,
highly personal and having a special warmth. The women who wear them
tell me that they get quite attached to their choices and that they
are often noticed and complimented. I, of course, am thoroughly
delighted with these results.
To me it seems like a magical sort of chemistry
combining my sense of individual women and their styles along with my
passion for the visually stunning.
